The first annual Spectrum Generations Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Challenge was held in Bath at the Maine Maritime Museum on September 25, 2013. Community members came together and raised over $13,000 to benefit Meals on Wheels and We Sustain Maine.

Congratulations to Chef Tim O'Brien of Trattoria Athena for being awarded Judges' Choice and Wendy Larson of Slates for being awarded People's Choice!

Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Challenge - a dining event to benefit Meals on Wheels in Central & Mid-Coast Maine

Featuring Top Maine Chefs, Celebrity Judges, and a Host of Celebrity Meals on Wheels “Delivery Volunteers” - All For a Great Cause!

Chefs Ray Franklyn of Solo Bistro in Bath, Wendy Larson of Slates Restaurant & Bakery in Hallowell, Tim O'Brien of Trattoria Athena in Brunswick, and Andrew Omo of Linda Bean's Pefect Maine in Freeport created main dishes using Meals on Wheels guidelines and ingredients. Local celebrities volunteered to deliver meals to tables while celebrity judges sampled and score each dish to declare a champion— All chef recipes will be incorporated in Spectrum Generations’ Meals on Wheels menu.

Cheryl Rust
Since 1977, Cheryl has been the owner & operator of Le Garage restaurant in Wiscasset, serving traditional New England fare as well as contemporary dining. For 36 years, Le Garage has been serving a wide range of food ingredients and styles. All food and baked goods are made in house and, whenever possible, derive from local and fresh ingredients. Cheryl is devoted to her community, serving as a leader on various boards and supporting many local charities.

Kelly LaBrecque
Meteorologist, WCSH 6  Kelly LaBrecque has been part of the NEWS CENTER team since 2003. Kelly grew up in Poland Spring, and is a graduate of Hebron Academy High School. She has a B.A. in Video/Television Production from Hofstra University in New York, and a certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State. When she is not at work Kelly enjoys singing, playing the guitar, writing, and painting.

Nancy Heiser
Nancy is an independent writer and editor based near Portland, Maine. Her articles and essays appear in national and regional magazines and newspapers, including the Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, Down East, Maine Sunday Telegram, Tennis Week, Maine magazine, Bay Area Parent, Working Waterfront, and several others. She is also a bi-monthly restaurant critic for the Maine Sunday Telegram and former senior editor at Port City Life.

Susan Axelrod
Susan is an online content producer and food writer for the Portland Press Herald. Before moving permanently to Portland in May, she was the founding editor of the restaurant blog Eater Maine, and food editor and weekly columnist for a daily newspaper in northern New Jersey. Her background includes many years as a restaurant owner, caterer and personal chef; she also does recipe development, most recently for "Lighten Up America" by Allison Fishman Task, coming in October from Cooking Light/Oxmoor House. She blogs at Spoon & Shutter with her husband, photographer Ted Axelrod. 
Christine Burns Rudalevige
Christine Burns Rudalevige of Brunswick is a Chef Instructor and Culinary Lead at Stonewall Kitchen, recipe developer at Cooking Light magazine, a contributing blogger at Whole Foods Market Cooking where she writes about getting more sustainable seafood on the dinner table. As a freelance food writer, her work has appeared in regional and national print magazines and on and She also is a professional recipe tester and is currently testing recipes for two cookbooks due out next year by W.W. Norton & Company press.
