Proceeds from the evening benefit Spectrum Generations’ Meals on Wheels program and We Sustain Maine initiative which supports Maine farmers by including Maine food products in its Meals on Wheels and community dining programs. By bringing food from the fields of Maine farms to the plates of Maine’s seniors and disabled adults, We Sustain Maine reduces senior hunger, supports Maine farmers, and ultimately helps Maine’s economy by reinvesting local dollars back into our community.

The first annual Spectrum Generations Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Challenge was held in Bath at the Maine Maritime Museum on September 25, 2013. Community members came together and raised over $13,000 to benefit Meals on Wheels and We Sustain Maine.

Congratulations to Chef Tim O'Brien of Trattoria Athena for being awarded Judges' Choice and Wendy Larson of Slates for being awarded People's Choice!

Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Challenge 2013 - a dining event to benefit Meals on Wheels in Central & Mid-Coast Maine

Featured Top Maine Chefs, Celebrity Judges, and a Host of Celebrity Meals on Wheels “Delivery Volunteers” - All For a Great Cause!

Chefs Ray Franklyn of Solo Bistro in Bath, Wendy Larson of Slates Restaurant & Bakery in Hallowell, Tim O'Brien of Trattoria Athena in Brunswick, and Andrew Omo of Linda Bean's Pefect Maine in Freeport created main dishes using Meals on Wheels guidelines and ingredients. Local celebrities volunteered to deliver meals to tables while celebrity judges sampled and scored each dish to declare a champion— All chef recipes will be incorporated in Spectrum Generations’ Meals on Wheels menu.
