An Inside Look: Spectrum Generations Meals on Wheels

We Sustain Maine Meals on Wheels
Spectrum Generations Senior Nutrition Program

Spectrum Generations Meals on Wheels program provides a delicious, nutritionally balanced hot meal for homebound individuals. This is available to any homebound individual 60 years of age or older and to persons with a disability who are unable to prepare a meal due to physical or mental limitations, and who have no one to prepare a meal for them. Meals on Wheels are delivered to your front door by our dedicated volunteers and staff. This also provides an opportunity to check in on a homebound person as a safety measure.

As Central Maine’s Meals on Wheels provider, Spectrum Generations is committed to providing freshly prepared meals, delivered by dedicated volunteers and staff to 128 communities throughout Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Somerset, and Waldo Counties, plus the towns of Harpswell and Brunswick in Cumberland County.  This year alone, we will prepare, package, deliver, and serve nearly 300,000 meals to homebound older and disabled adults and to seniors who dine at one of our 7 community centers.

Spectrum Generations prepares every meal for Meals on Wheels with as many Maine made and grown products as possible (We Sustain Maine).  We are a leader in the state of Maine and nationwide, raising the bar for quality and nutritive content of every meal we serve.

Donations for meals are suggested and welcomed. Donations help us provide more nutritious meals to others who could benefit from the program. We also accept food stamps/EBT Program funds.

"Thank you for letting me receive meals on wheels. I'm so greatful for all you have done. It is a blessing. This wonderful program has helped me become healthier and I am improving. My meals are deliverd by a kind gentleman. He brings them on time, considering the bad weather we have had. Thank you for all you have done. Many blessings."

Spectrum Generations Animeals Program
helps seniors feed their pets

Dog and cat food is available to anyone in need, and we currently serve over 120 pets in the Central Maine area. Animeals allows individuals to keep their beloved companions at home while avoiding sacrificing their own food and nutrition to feed them
