Gardiner Federal Credit Union recently held its annual Ending Hunger Check Reception to distribute the funds it raised in 2023. The reception was held at Spectrum Generations Cohen Center, where representatives of local food pantries and organizations were in attendance. Each of the agencies invited help local families and individuals faced with food insecurities. A total of nine food pantries received checks from the credit union.
The organizations are as follows: Bread of Life, Chrysalis Place, Faith Food Pantry, Food for Thought Backpack Program, Hallowell Food Pantry, Kennebec Valley Boys & Girls Club, South Gardiner Baptist Church Food Pantry, Spectrum Generations and the Tiger Food Pantry.
The Campaign for Ending Hunger is the Maine Credit Union League’s top fundraising focus. This past year, credit unions throughout the state raised more than $1.2 million for the campaign. This total was revealed at the Ending Hunger Results Luncheon held in February, where Gardiner Federal Credit Union was awarded first place in per member contribution. GFCU holds several fundraisers throughout the year to support the cause.
