Memory Cafés-A Break from the Routine

Memory Cafés—A Break from the Routine
Restore normalcy—and fun—to caregivers and their loved ones with mild cognitive impairment or early Alzheimer’s

Spectrum Generations Family Caregiver Program has formed monthly Memory Cafés in Waterville and Stockton Springs for those with dementia or memory loss, as well as their family caregivers or friends.

Caregivers often say that one of the hardest parts of dealing with dementia and memory loss is the absence of the normal interactions they once had in their relationship. Instead, their days are full of difficult and tedious tasks.

Memory Cafés are free, informal, and accepting places—a break from the routine—where people can gather for conversation, companionship, entertainment, games and activities.  More than anything, Memory Cafés aim to restore normalcy—and fun—to caregivers and their loved ones with mild cognitive impairment or early Alzheimer’s. Rather than focus on the disease, or be a place to vent, Memory Cafés are an opportunity for caregivers and their loved ones to do what they’re able, not unable, to do together.

If you are dealing with similar issues, you are invited to join us at either of these two Memory Cafés.
