Molina Medicaid Solutions of Maine recently celebrated the good deeds of one very special leader in the community at its third annual Community Champions Awards Ceremony. This year’s honoree is Annabelle Curtis who is a volunteer from the Cohen Community Center.

"We are pleased to honor Annabelle as a Community Champion," said Peter Gray, the executive account manager of Molina Medicaid Solutions in Maine. "Annabelle’s dedication and commitment have made a huge impact Hallowell and seniors in need."

The Community Champions program celebrates the vision of Dr. C. David Molina, the founder of Molina Healthcare, as well as community partners who work together to care for society’s most vulnerable individuals. Each community champion was nominated by a community-based organization and also received a $1,000 grant to give to a deserving nonprofit organization of his/her choice. The ceremony was held at the Governor Hill Mansion and included a performance by the Peter Herman Trio.

Annabelle Curtis from has volunteered at Spectrum Generations Cohen Community Center in Hallowell for the past five years. She works closely with the organization to provide seniors and disabled adults with learning experiences related to health, nutrition, community engagement and social well-being. She packs and seals food for the "Meals on Wheels" program two days a week and serves as wait staff for the Center’s lunch program one day a week.  Her volunteer efforts have helped the Center feed 45,000 nutritious meals to homebound and disabled adults and provided 14,000 meals to the center’s daily luncheon guests last year. Curtis gifted the grant to Lynda Johnson, of Meals on Wheels Cohen Community Center, who accepted on behalf of the organization.
