State, Federal and Veteran Services

There are many programs available to help veterans and other consumers.  Whether they are state or federally funded, you will find a few resources here to get you started on your road to discovering what services and benefits you might be eligible for that may allow you to remain at home and independent longer.

Veteran's Representative:  Veterans meet one-on-one with a representative at our local community centers for help to apply for, or understand benefits.  Call your local Spectrum Generations center to schedule an appointment. 

Benefits Check-up:  Not sure what public benefits are available - or if you qualify?  Trained staff at each of our Community centers can help you complete a Benefits check-up to see if you might be able to get some help.  Call your local center today to schedule an appointment.

My Maine Connection: Use this link to apply for SNAP (food stamps), Medicare Savings Program (help to pay for Medicare costs), Maine Care, and other public benefits programs. 

Maine Rx Plus Maine Rx Plus is a benefit sponsored by the Maine Department of Human Services to help reduce the high cost of prescription drugs for qualifying Mainers.  Once you're enrolled, you can show your card at participating pharmacies in Maine for healthy savings on a wide range of approved prescription drugs.

Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program:   A no cost service for women 40 and older if:

  • You have no insurance, or
  • Your insurance does not cover mammograms or Pap tests or you have a high deductible, and
  • You meet set income limits

The MBCHP pays for:

  • Mammograms (breast x-ray)
  • Breast Exams
  • Pap Tests
  • Pelvic Exams (internal exams)
  • Limited Diagnostic or Follow-up Services
