AARP Providing Tax Help at Spectrum Generations Centers

Tax Time Again

Tax season is here, and Spectrum Generations is once again making its community centers available to AARP volunteers to set up appointments to help middle and low income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and over, prepare their taxes.

In most instances, this would include help filing for a Maine State Fairness Credit for those who qualify. This tax credit was formerly known as Property Tax & Rent Rebate or Circuit Breaker Program.  To find out if you are eligible for this tax credit, call Maine Revenue Services at 207-626-8475, or visit them online at www.maine.gov/revenue/taxrelief.  If you do qualify, please bring the necessary documents to file for this tax credit.

The AARP Tax-Aide Program is funded by the IRS and the AARP Foundation, a tax-exempt charitable organization.  Here is an outline of where you can find the help you need at four of our Spectrum Generations centers, plus additional locations in central Maine where AARP is providing tax assistance.
